TechDefused is an independent digital news publisher focused on technology and artificial intelligence. The site provides original reporting, breaking news and analysis, with particular attention to how these sectors affect business, products and the wider industry.

Our editorial mission is to reduce hype and distortion in modern news coverage by focusing on accuracy, context and clarity.

Our mission

TechDefused was created with a simple aim: to take the top-spin and heat out of the news. In a world of breathless headlines, hype cycles and algorithm-fuelled outrage, it slows things down just enough to ask what is actually happening and why it matters.

The focus is AI, software, hardware, semiconductors and emerging tech — sectors moving at speed and increasingly shaping how everything else works. TechDefused concentrates on breaking news and analysis, separating genuine signal from a lot of very loud noise.

The site is very much in start-up mode for now, but it will not stay that way for long. Coverage will broaden, analysis will deepen, and the reporting will grow more ambitious as TechDefused finds its feet and ramps up.

Defused.io: newsroom AI with editors in the loop

Defused.io is a next-gen content intelligence and automation engine. It powers a meaningful portion of the content published on TechDefused.

It is a newsroom automation platform designed to help media teams ingest, analyse and turn raw information and structured sources into publish-ready stories. It is an editor-in-the-loop operating model that keeps humans in control at all the points that matter most.

Source material on a tech beat looks different to a markets beat: vendor releases, S-1 and 10-K filings, GitHub releases, security advisories, model cards, benchmark publications, regulatory filings from competition authorities, and the research notes that analyst houses like Gartner and Forrester put into circulation. Defused.io treats all of these as inputs, not as publish-ready copy.

Every piece of content produced via the Defused.io platform on this site carries the byline "TechDefused Newsroom". It is a collective institutional byline, not a personal one — a deliberate posture, not just an attribution string. The Newsroom byline signals that a piece was produced through our AI-assisted pipeline under human editorial oversight, and that responsibility for it sits with the publication rather than with any single contributor.

Defused.io has strict, embedded and layered quality controls. It underscores newsroom standards across the platform and the publications we work with. The goal is to reduce avoidable errors, support transparency, and keep judgement with human editors.

The detail of how this works — the two-pass quality control architecture, the Knowledge Graph factfile layer that verification reads from, the disclosure on every AI-assisted article — lives on our AI disclosure and technology and AI policy pages.

Founder and publisher

Jamie Ashcroft — founder of Creamery Media Ltd and publisher of the Defused Network titles. Background in business and financial journalism, software, and economics. Architect of the editorial automation systems that power TechDefused and the wider network.

Editorial accountability for TechDefused sits with the founder/publisher and the editor-in-the-loop methodology. There is no third-party Editor in Chief: the publication is run by its publisher, not assigned out.

Editorial team

TechDefused's editorial team is described here in criteria-oriented terms — the standards each role meets. As named contributors are confirmed, their profiles will populate this page below the role they hold; the criteria framing remains as the publication's standing description of the standard for that role type.

Contributing Editors. Mid-career or later technology journalists with verified track records in AI, software, hardware, semiconductors or adjacent beats. Contribute editorial input, occasional commissioning, and bylined pieces in their domain.

Columnists. Recognised voices in their fields — practitioners, engineers, researchers, sector analysts, specialist commentators — contributing regular bylined columns on a defined cadence.

Advisory Editors. Senior editorial or industry experience, lending credentials and oversight to the publication and consulting on direction.

Specialist Contributors. Domain experts — academics, sector analysts, thematic writers — contributing occasional bylined pieces in their field.

Editorial independence

TechDefused operates with full editorial independence. Editorial decisions are made solely by the editorial team and are not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, partners or commercial relationships.

Any commercial relationships are disclosed clearly where relevant.

TechDefused prioritises original journalism and analysis.

Where reporting is based on information first published by third parties, clear attribution is provided. We do not scrape content, rewrite third-party articles without added value, or publish content solely for search optimisation.

Press releases, vendor PR, and analyst-house notes are treated as source material, not as publish-ready content. Benchmark claims and vendor performance numbers are not cleared as editorial just because they arrived in a deck.

Ownership and funding

TechDefused is published by Creamery Media Ltd, a company registered in Ireland (Companies Registration Office, company no. 5304388), with an editorial office in London. Sole director and founder: Jamie Ashcroft. There are no external investors.

Revenue comes from advertising when ads are running — Google AdSense is returning to the site post-reapproval. There are no paid accounts or subscriptions at launch. We will disclose any material changes to ownership or funding here. The ownership and funding page carries the full disclosure.

Editorial policies

TechDefused's editorial standards are documented across a set of public policy pages, each of which describes a specific aspect of how we operate.
