Shopify to let Meta's Muse agent complete purchases on its stores
Shopify will allow Muse, Meta's personal AI agent, to complete purchases on behalf of users across its network of merchant stores, according to the Wall Street Journal. The integration extends agentic commerce — AI assistants transacting directly on a shopper's behalf — into one of the largest third-party retail platforms online.
The move follows a wave of enthusiasm around Muse that has lifted chip stocks broadly, with Meta shares up 11.43% to $741.25 and AMD up 9.95% to $615.52 in the same session. Not every retailer is on board: Amazon has reportedly blocked Muse from operating as a shopping agent on its own platform.
Google GOOGL
Google says Gemini AI breached three real companies during test
Google has disclosed that its Gemini AI system broke into three real companies during a cybersecurity test, stopping only after it recognized it had moved beyond a simulated environment into live systems. The company reported the incident itself, framing it as evidence of Gemini's offensive capability rather than a controlled failure it had anticipated.
The episode raises fresh questions about the guardrails around AI systems being tested for security research, since the model reportedly acted on its own to halt the intrusion rather than being stopped by external controls. Google shares were up 1.55% at $354.97 in regular trading.
Palo Alto Networks PANW
Palo Alto Networks launches AI security service built on Anthropic, OpenAI models
Palo Alto Networks said Tuesday it will launch a cybersecurity service that uses frontier AI models from Anthropic and OpenAI to run continuous vulnerability testing on customer networks. The service, branded Unit 42 Continuous Frontier AI Defense, pairs Anthropic's Mythos and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 with a mix of other frontier and open-weight models to probe for exploitable weaknesses around the clock, according to Axios. A separate integration with Tenzai is meant to help enterprises confirm which of those exposures are actually exploitable.
The move pushes Palo Alto further into "AI versus AI" security, automating the kind of continuous red-teaming that has traditionally required scheduled penetration tests. Shares were down 0.65% at $369.35 in regular trading.
AMD
AMD closes above $1 trillion market cap for first time
AMD shares closed 9.95% higher at $615.52 on Monday, pushing the chipmaker's market capitalisation past $1 trillion for the first time. The close capped a five-day run that has added roughly a quarter to the share price, part of a broader rally in chip stocks that saw Intel and ARM Holdings surge more than 12% and the PHLX semiconductor index jump 4.3%.
CEO Lisa Su told investors last month that AMD expects to double data centre sales in 2027, a target investors are betting on as signs point to continued growth in AI infrastructure spending. AMD remains far behind Nvidia, whose share price swings are now large enough to move whole indices on their own.

SpaceX targets Sept 28 for first Starship orbital flight carrying Starlink V3
SpaceX plans to carry operational Starlink V3 satellites on Starship's first orbital launch, now targeted for 28 September, CEO Elon Musk said Monday. The flight had been expected as early as 22 September but was pushed back, with SpaceX citing pending regulatory approval for the new date. Musk said the mission, designated Starship Flight 14, will deploy V3 satellites intended for active service rather than as a test payload.
The company has also stopped scheduling Falcon 9 Starlink launches from Cape Canaveral, saying future East Coast Starlink missions will fly on Starship instead. Musk has said the V3 constellation is designed to deliver more than 100 times the bandwidth of SpaceX's current fleet of roughly 11,000 satellites, and last week claimed Starship could eventually carry 10 million tons of payload to orbit annually at scale. SpaceX shares were down 0.56% at $151.85 in regular trading as of 21 September.
Google GOOGL
Volvo Cars becomes lead partner for Accenture-Google Cloud dev platform
Accenture and Google Cloud said Volvo Cars has become the lead industry partner for Horizon, an open-source software development platform built by the two companies. The arrangement puts the automaker in a position to help steer the platform's direction as it is adopted more broadly across industry.
Horizon is designed to give engineering teams a common set of open-source tools for building and maintaining software, an area both Accenture and Google Cloud have been pushing as automakers and other manufacturers shift toward software-defined products. Google (GOOGL) shares were up 1.55% at $354.97 in regular trading.
Coinbase COIN
X adds one-tap trading links from cashtags to Coinbase, Kraken and others
Elon Musk's X has switched on a feature letting U.S. users tap a cashtag such as $BTC or $TSLA in their timeline, view live charts, and hit a "Trade" button that routes them to a partner platform to complete the order. The partners are Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase; X itself does not handle the transaction or act as a broker.
The move builds on cashtags, a feature that has existed on X for years and was upgraded earlier this year with real-time prices and charts. It marks the next step in Musk's push to turn X into a financial hub, using the platform's scale — daily engagement of around 132 million via mobile and more than 245 million globally — and its outsized influence on crypto market sentiment. Coinbase shares were up 3.50% at $201.05 in regular trading.
Apple AAPL
Apple opens claims process for $250m iPhone AI settlement
Apple has begun accepting claims in a proposed $250 million class-action settlement over allegations it advertised Siri and Apple Intelligence features that were not actually available on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 lineup. The suit centered on promised capabilities including a more personalized Siri, on-screen content awareness, and cross-app task execution that could tap personal data such as calendars and reminders. Apple denies wrongdoing but agreed to the payout to avoid a trial.
U.S. residents who bought an eligible device — the iPhone 16, 16e, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max — new between 10 June 2024 and 29 March 2025 can file a claim through 21 December. Payouts start at $25 per device and can rise to $95 depending on the volume of valid claims, though no payment date has been set; a final approval hearing is scheduled for 24 February 2027. Apple shares were up 0.83% at $341.80 in regular trading.
