Meta and Reliance Industries expanded their strategic partnership with an agreement for an AI-enabled data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, where Reliance will build a facility whose first phase delivers 168 MW of capacity that Meta will lease with options to scale.
The deal pairs leased capacity with infrastructure commitments designed to support Meta’s AI ambitions and one of its largest user communities, and the company said the Jamnagar site is powered by renewable energy and cooled with desalinated seawater.
“We’re proud to be working with Reliance to build our first AI-enabled data center in India,” Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Meta, said in the announcement.
Meta said it will cover the full cost of the energy and water supporting the Jamnagar facility.
Separately, Meta contracted nearly 1 gigawatt of new clean energy in India through agreements with CleanMax for 837 MW of solar and wind projects and with Fourth Partner Energy for 88 MW.
Reliance is developing Jamnagar as one of the largest data centre campuses in the world and Meta linked the site to its broader network investments, including Project Waterworth, the company’s subsea cable system.
Meta framed the infrastructure and renewable deals as part of its effort to match operations with 100% clean and renewable energy.
