Google added the ability to complete hotel bookings directly inside AI Mode chat for U.S. travelers, moving Search from a comparison surface toward a full booking channel.
The feature lets users compare hotels, review room and cancellation details, and finish payment with Google Pay via a "Continue on Google" flow while partners keep the reservation and customer relationship.
Google limits the booking data it shares back to partners to a narrow set, name, payment, occupancy and property, keeping upstream signals about why a traveler converted inside its systems.
The rollout arrives alongside new travel tools: the update also added flight price tracking to AI Mode, signalling Google is broadening the assistant into an end-to-end trip tool.
The change echoes Google’s prior boundary-setting when it wound down Book on Google, and it tightens the gate between demand and distribution at a moment many bookings start with AI rather than direct site searches.
Google said the hotel-booking rollout begins in the U.S. in English and will expand over the coming weeks.
