Palantir CEO Alex Karp framed nationalisation as a realistic risk for major AI companies as political sentiment shifts toward government control.

Karp said he has spent six months privately warning top AI executives and that their typical response has been dismissal.

"The momentum is on the side of people who want to nationalize them," Karp told TBPN at Palantir’s AIPCon 10.

The warning gained urgency after Senator Bernie Sanders outlined the American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act in The New York Times, proposing a one-time 50% tax on stock of major AI firms including OpenAI, Anthropic and xAI to seed a federal fund.

Karp urged executives to move beyond reliance on lobbyists, openly address AI's societal risks and emphasise the strategic value of their systems as the United States competes with foreign adversaries.

The stakes are tangible: according to the Center for a New American Security, Nvidia supplies GPUs for 52% of all tracked sovereign AI infrastructure projects worldwide.
