Contentpen, a content-optimisation platform aimed at agencies, freelancers and small content teams, has launched version 2.0, the company said in a press release.

The update merges its separate search engine optimisation (SEO) and answer engine optimisation (AEO) tools into a single product.

AEO is the practice of making content more likely to be cited by AI systems that generate answers to user questions.

What the tracker covers

The update tracks brand visibility across seven AI systems: ChatGPT, Google AI, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and Claude.

Claude was added only this spring, bringing the total from six to seven.

Before this release, the visibility tracker already reported share of voice, brand sentiment, average position and cited sources across AI answers.

The SEO side

The SEO side of the platform continues to draw on Google Search Console data.

It uses that data to flag content decay, falling click-through rates, keyword cannibalisation and competitor gaps.

Contentpen positions the combined tool as a single workspace spanning keyword research, content clustering, SERP and content-gap analysis, AI writing, live scoring and publishing.

A shifting market

The merger reflects a shift across the content-tools market, as optimising for traditional search results increasingly competes with optimising for how AI systems summarise and cite information.

The AEO category has emerged alongside the growth of conversational AI answer engines.

Platforms from Google's Gemini to Microsoft's Copilot and Perplexity increasingly mediate how users discover and read branded content.

That makes citation tracking across multiple AI engines a distinct monitoring problem from classic search-rank tracking.
