Abu Dhabi signed four agreements with OpenAI on Monday at the ADIPEC energy conference, witnessed by Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed and OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman, according to The National.

The most commercially significant deal makes ADNOC, the state energy company, the first energy firm to deploy OpenAI Frontier, an enterprise platform for building and managing AI agents that runs on GPT models with UAE-based inference.

The multi-year agreement aims to connect subsurface, reservoir, facilities and economic analysis so that whole-field master planning drops from months to hours.

A separate track involves Abu Dhabi's Department of Government Enablement, which is building a Machine-Readable Government initiative to translate policies into formats AI systems can parse directly.

That project is already piloting at the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority for food-import compliance, ahead of any broader rollout.
