Nvidia has agreed to buy Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, the open-source platform developers use to share, fine-tune and deploy machine-learning models, according to multiple reports.
The acquisition would bring one of the most widely used model hubs under Nvidia's ownership and further broaden its position in open-source AI and the software and model ecosystem.
The Information reported that deal talks began after Hugging Face drew interest from another suitor, and other outlets had earlier said Nvidia had been in talks while Hugging Face was evaluating bidders with a bank.
The companies have been deepening technical ties for more than a year, from a 2025 GPU-cluster partnership to joint robotics and open-model work, and reporting last year said Nvidia previously offered roughly $500 million on a $7 billion valuation that Hugging Face rejected.
Hugging Face CEO Clément Delangue, who has framed the company as a defender of open models, said recently that "AI cybersecurity is going to become a huge market in the U.S. and in the world."
Nvidia has been aggressive on deals and partnerships this year, including a $20 billion licensing deal with Groq, and folding Hugging Face would extend its reach higher up the AI stack.
