JD.com announced plans to build a 100,000‑card cluster in partnership with domestic GPU maker Moore Threads.
The move is part of a broader shift toward "physical AI", combining robotics and hardware integration to automate logistics as the company faces its first quarterly revenue decline.
JD Cloud framed the cluster as infrastructure to support large-scale AI workloads for embodied systems and to deepen control over compute capacity.
The firm is simultaneously moving to expand automation across its nationwide network, including a plan to deploy 3 million robots as part of long-term logistics transformation.
The announcement, made at JD’s technology conference, positions JD.com to link on‑premise robotics, autonomous vehicles and drones with a domestic AI compute backbone.
Company executives said the initiative sets JD apart from its larger internet peers by treating AI as physical infrastructure rather than only software optimisation.
