Meta Platforms completed an operational split from Manus and halted data sharing between the two companies as it moves to unwind a $2 billion acquisition that Beijing opposed.

The separation effectively erects a firewall: Meta has barred Manus and its staff from accessing the company's internal data systems since the start of the month.

At the same time, Meta employees can no longer use Manus tools for internal projects, people familiar with the matter said.

Manus, a Chinese‑founded agentic artificial intelligence service, was once touted as a breakthrough that could challenge Silicon Valley’s dominance.
