Sanders, who has pushed legislation that would pause AI development, cited a recent viral account from a former industry employee and said "Congress needs SERIOUS discussions about this issue" in a Dear Colleague letter.
The letter referenced Jacob Coxon’s resignation from Anthropic and public warnings from inside AI labs as drivers for the briefing, a sign that internal dissent at major firms is now reaching senators Jacob Coxon.
The session is set for Sept. 16 from 4-5 p.m. on the Hill, and comes amid a broader Sanders campaign this year that has moved from public warnings to bills seeking pauses and stricter limits on advanced AI.
