Moonshot AI is negotiating hosting arrangements with Microsoft, Amazon and Google and is seeking up to a 30% share of revenue generated from Kimi K3-related services on those platforms.
The talks matter because Moonshot's flagship Kimi K3 is an open-weight model few customers are likely to run on their own infrastructure given its scale, Reuters notes the model has 2.8 trillion parameters, and major cloud distribution would be the main route to enterprise adoption.
Independent evaluations have placed K3 at the top of web-interface benchmarks and credited it with performance comparable to leading Western models ranked it first.
Negotiations are reported to be early and unresolved issues include how revenue would be split, data access and auditing of token usage early stage.
Moonshot has signed similar pacts with smaller clouds and a Chinese IT services provider disclosed a prior revenue-sharing agreement with the startup.
The company has faced U.S. security scrutiny and accusations over its model's provenance, while Reuters says Moonshot raised more than $2 billion and is preparing for a potential Hong Kong listing.
