XDOF, which collects real-world teleoperation data for training general-purpose robots, is in late-stage talks for a Series B at a valuation of about $1.2 billion and with 8VC poised to lead the round led by 8VC.
The company says the new capital would be used to scale its data-supply chain-building out data pipelines, collection tools and annotation systems-and to hire and train teams of teleoperators and body‑sensor “egocentric” collectors worldwide to expand its datasets hire and train teams of data collectors worldwide.
“One big impediment to his research was the lack of ‘large‑scale data to work with,’” co‑founder Philipp Wu said of the motivation behind the effort, a line he used when describing the project in June.
The talks come roughly three months after XDOF exited stealth with a $70 million Series A and participation from Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Lux Capital and Spark Capital, and follow what investors described as rapid growth with annualized revenue approaching $50 million that prompted firms to approach the company Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Lux, and Spark Capital annualized revenue approaching $50 million.
If completed, the round would accelerate XDOF’s stated plan to release a large training collection called ABC in partnership with UC Berkeley AI Research and to broaden commercial deployments-the startup already says it is working with about 20 customers, including frontier AI labs ABC 20 customers.
