ChipAgents, a Santa Clara-based startup that builds AI agents to automate semiconductor design, has expanded its Series A funding, with investor B Capital injecting $60 million, taking the total raise to $134 million.
The capital is expected to fund efforts to speed up and further automate chip design workflows.
In particular, the company wants to focus on verification and other tasks where it expects to make large time and cost reductions to accelerate semiconductor design.
“We’re enabling the industry to move beyond AI assistants toward autonomous agents that can execute meaningful engineering work," said CEO William Wang.
"Our customer growth shows that semiconductor companies are ready for that shift, and this financing allows us to bring that capability to even more engineering teams."
It comes as ChipAgents is broadening a strategic collaboration with Nvidia, which seeks to develop a specialized AI model for chip design.
The latest investment pledge brings the total Series A fundraising to $134 million, including prior backers such as Micron, MediaTek and Ericsson.
Henry Huang, Investment Director, Venture Capital at Micron, meanwhile, commented: "Semiconductor engineering teams face rising pressure to deliver more sophisticated designs in less time ... ChipAgents is addressing that challenge by enabling engineers to automate advanced design and verification work, accelerate design timelines, and improve engineering productivity."
