Cognition, the AI coding startup, is set to raise around $1 billion in a funding round that would peg its value at about $47 billion.

A Bloomberg report said talks are ongoing, the final raise may exceed that amount as Cognition has drawn nearly $10 billion of investor interest, and the company is best known for Devin, its autonomous AI software engineer.

Rapid re-rating

The latest pricing continues a rapid re‑rating after multiple step‑ups over the past year, rounds that moved the company from multibillion valuations in 2025 to a $26 billion raise in May 2026 and then into discussions above $40 billion by August, reflecting intense investor demand for AI developer tooling.

Bloomberg reported that discussions remain fluid and details may still change, leaving the final size and any lead investors unconfirmed as the company and prospective backers complete negotiations.
