Apple is facing a £2 billion lawsuit in London brought on behalf of app developers who allege the company abused its market power by imposing stricter app-tracking restrictions on third parties than on its own services. £2 billion
The claim targets Apple’s App Tracking Transparency feature, which the iPhone maker introduced in 2021 to give users control over cross-app tracking, and lawyers say it imposed tougher requirements on third-party developers that advantaged Apple’s advertising ecosystem.

Ann Pope, a former senior official with Britain’s Competition and Markets Authority who is leading the lawsuit, said the policy "resulted in very significant harm to businesses that depend on Apple as a gatekeeper."
The case was filed at London's Competition Appeal Tribunal and follows years of regulatory scrutiny in Europe, including probes and a recent agreement that saw Apple agreed changes to consent rules after German intervention, with regulators in other countries also examining the framework.
