Tesla will unveil its second‑generation Roadster on October 1 after posting a teaser on X that showed a "10.01" date.
The reveal is the clearest public step yet toward a sports car Tesla first promised in November 2017 and repeatedly pushed back, and the teaser also appears to reference optional SpaceX propulsion with cold‑gas thrusters.
The company posted "Go for launch" on X in the teaser.
Tech reporting says Tesla has moved away from the original 2017 concept toward a redesigned vehicle, a shift described as the 2017 version being completely abandoned for a new design that will be shown at the event.
Elon Musk has previously warned that even after a public reveal the Roadster would not enter production for about 12 or 18 months, and the car’s long timeline has already produced reservation disputes, including a noted complaint over a $50,000 reservation fee.
