BT has expanded its partnership with Microsoft to strengthen cyber defences, according to Comms Business.

The collaboration combines Microsoft's security technology with BT's scale, security operations and network insight, the trade publication reported.

The deepened tie-up lands as Microsoft pushes further into embedding autonomous AI agent capabilities across its enterprise products, including Azure and Microsoft 365, part of a broader strategy to scale cloud infrastructure for AI-driven demand.

Microsoft's security and cloud business operates against a backdrop of mounting regulatory scrutiny in the UK, where the Competition and Markets Authority has opened a probe into its business software ecosystem and a UK class action valued at roughly $2.8 billion over Windows Server pricing was certified earlier this year.

Comms Business did not provide further detail on the commercial terms or scope of the expanded BT-Microsoft collaboration.
