Amazon will invest an additional $13 billion through 2030 to expand its AI and cloud footprint in India, targeting increased Amazon Web Services data‑center capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The company said in an announcement the money will fund AWS infrastructure expansion to support AI and cloud services, and noted that long‑term investment commitments typically include both capital and operating expenditures rather than only new build‑out costs.

The pledge is Amazon’s third major India commitment in three years, following a $15 billion commitment announced in 2023 that included $12.7 billion for AWS and an over $35 billion commitment in December 2025, bringing the company’s disclosed India commitments to $48 billion in total.

The move comes as other global cloud players have made large India bets, Microsoft has pledged $17.5 billion by 2029 and Google $15 billion, and as third‑party investors and domestic conglomerates announce multi‑billion‑dollar data‑center projects.

Amazon also separately outlined expansion of its domestic retail and logistics network, planning more than 20 new fulfillment centres, over 100 last‑mile delivery stations this year and a roll‑out of its quick‑commerce service Amazon Now to more than 300 cities and towns.
