Arturo Elias Slim, a grandson of Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, is assuming a more visible position within Grupo Carso SAB, according to Bloomberg.
He is general director of T1, an e-commerce platform that combines online-store creation, order management, marketplace connections, payments and shipping, and he has spent more than 12 years working across digital commerce, logistics and payments rather than entering the family business through a conventional industrial or retail post.
T1 launched an AI store generator in December 2025 that lets users describe what they want to sell and receive a functional online shop with integrated payments and deliveries.
By October, the company said the tool had produced more than 10,000 stores in under a year, with stores built in an average of 31 seconds.
T1 also presented UNO, a tool the company says can carry out more than 250 business actions, including operational tasks and queries through natural-language instructions.
The venture extends the Slim family's longstanding retail footprint, which includes Sears, Sanborns and iShop, into software and digital infrastructure, though available reporting describes T1 as Arturo Elias Slim's own platform rather than a Grupo Carso subsidiary.
Grupo Carso's 2025 report recorded consolidated sales of Ps.191.627 billion, down 3.2% from 2024, with Sanborns contributing Ps.74.296 billion.
