Mistral AI, the French enterprise AI platform, has raised €3 billion in a Series D round led by Samsung Electronics.
The company said the round is the largest equity funding round ever raised by a European technology company.
A valuation that nearly doubled
The round lifted Mistral's post-money valuation to more than €21 billion.
That figure is nearly double the €11.7 billion valuation set at its Series C round in September 2025.
Who else is backing the company
The round added a wide range of strategic investors and backers, which now include ASML, Nvidia, and funds managed by BlackRock.
Also joining are Advent, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT, and returning investor PSG Equity.
What the money is for
The company said the proceeds will expand frontier AI research, scale computing capacity for training models, and build out infrastructure.
Mistral is also using the funding to accelerate commercial and international growth, while positioning itself as a 'sovereign' AI provider built on open-weight models and a full technology stack.
Scaling an existing business
Mistral said the funding will be used immediately to ramp up model training capacity and expand its sales operation.
The company already operates across 20 countries and serves more than 125 enterprises, including Airbus, ASML and HSBC.
