Spotify has introduced a new toggle that lets parents remove kids' and family music from their taste profile, with the feature rolling out globally on mobile for Free and Premium users.

The change stops children's tracks from shaping recommendations and year-end recaps. It keeps songs such as animated-movie tunes, theme songs and nursery rhymes out of Discover Weekly, Daily Mix and Wrapped.

Spotify says the exclusion is applied retroactively. The setting defaults to including kids' music until users switch it off.

Answering a long-standing gripe

The toggle follows a sequence of family-focused moves this year, including Managed Accounts for young listeners and earlier parental controls.

It replaces a laborious manual option to exclude specific tracks, addressing a persistent complaint that household listening skews adult personalisation and distorts Wrapped, Spotify's marquee marketing moment.

The company said the toggle will automatically exclude kids' music from a profile when enabled.

That makes it the latest step in separating children's listening from adult accounts on the streaming service.
