HEO, which builds cameras and sensors that take "flyby" photographs of other spacecraft from orbit, raised $25 million in a Series B to scale its imagery and sensing network.

Axios first reported that the company will use the funding to expand its imaging capability into geostationary orbit, moving beyond a footprint it has until now focused on low-Earth orbit to cover the higher-altitude band where many critical communications and weather satellites operate.

"For commercial players, it allows you to really understand what's wrong with your spacecraft," HEO co‑founder and CEO William Crowe said.

The Series B follows a prior Series A in 2023 and arrives as investor interest in space-domain-awareness and in-orbit inspection grows, with HEO saying the capital will fund sensor deployments, software development and operational work needed to make routine inspections in geostationary orbit its next technical milestone.
