Google Photos is preparing Moods, a new suite of AI-driven, adaptive photo filters found in the app code by Android Authority.
The feature will automatically analyse a photo’s lighting and colours and apply an aesthetic transformation, turning Google Photos from a storage app into a one‑tap creative tool.
Android Authority's code inspection lists eight Moods: Airy Minimalist; Crisp 35mm; 2000’s cinema; Rich textures; Pink digicam; Retro contrast; Night lights; and 2000’s night.
App copy embedded in the code reads, "Keep the feeling, refine the look. Try Moods."
The Moods feature currently does not run in the app and returns the error "Can't load this photo for editing," which suggests server-side processing or rollout gating is not yet enabled.
The Create tab also shows a Video remix button, previously codenamed "Soba," replacing the old YouTube-like icon with a circular play symbol and a sparkle that signals Gemini-powered generative editing.
Other generative tools in Google Photos already use daily generation limits and region locks and will prompt users to upgrade to a paid Google AI plan, but whether Moods will be quota‑restricted or regionally is not visible in the code.
Both Moods and Video remix are labelled "New" in the interface, indicating Google is likely to enable them for users soon.
