SoftBank Group launched an OpenAI-powered cybersecurity service for Japanese enterprises.

The company said it is offering the service to capitalise on growing demand for defence capabilities that use artificial intelligence, and announced the product at a launch event in Tokyo.

The service is built on OpenAI technology and is pitched at corporate customers seeking automated detection and response tools.

The launch comes as attention tightens on model governance overseas, with the United States moving to restrict a rival model.

Masayoshi Son warned at the Tokyo event that AI-driven attacks could pose an acute threat, describing the risk as a potential "Black Ships" moment for Japan.

SoftBank did not provide a public timetable for broader rollouts or pricing in the announcement.
