China's exports of electric vehicles climbed to an all-time high in May, reaching $9.2 billion, almost 50% above the same month a year earlier.
The General Administration of Customs said the increase extends a recent surge in EV shipments that it links to higher oil prices tied to the war in Iran, and that broader exports of electricity-related technologies, including solar panels and batteries, remained near record levels.
Customs data framed the rise as evidence of China's growing competitive edge in advanced transport and of rising global demand for alternatives to fossil fuels.
May's figure continues the monthly expansion in EV exports documented by the customs agency.
